If you’re getting to the bottom of this your log stockpile and want to identify the drier logs – grab a moisture meter and follow these steps to get an accurate moisture reading:
1️⃣ Split the log in half to expose the fresh inner wood 🪓 (take care and ensure you wear protection to avoid injury)
2️⃣ Insert the moisture meter prongs into the middle of the log 🌡️
3️⃣ Check the reading – 20% or less is the sweet spot for efficient burning! 🔥
Why split the log❓ The outside of a log dries faster than the inside, especially if it’s been stored in a dry environment. This can give a false low reading that doesn’t reflect the true moisture content.
